B2BSX is the first business-to-business software exchange for the sale of customer developed, platform-dependent custom software applications. Helios Works, LLC, which operates the business software exchange, has a patent pending for the operation of the exchange; the patented process includes the following steps: asset submission, asset appraisal, publishing, searching, and purchasing processes. B2BSX is a sub-licensor of the custom source code from the Seller, and the B2BSX in turn sub-licenses the applications to the Buyers. The custom applications could be 50 or 50,000 lines of source code. B2BSX has a competitive advantage over the traditional IT solution sourcing options of: Build, Buy, and outsource. The Business Software Exchange offers a compelling value proposition of both Buyers and Sellers. For Buyers, the value proposition includes: lower price, quicker speed of deployment, lower risk, and the ability to leverage other company's core competencies. For Sellers, the value proposition includes: generating revenue from their investment, recouping development costs, promoting standardization, and benefiting from early adoption of technology. The buyers typically pay twenty to thirty percent of original development cost for the software assets; the original development cost includes any costs incurred from the creation of the functional spec through unit testing of the custom source code. The seller receives a royalty of between 30 percent and 50 percent of the asset price. The initial targeted platforms include: SAP, Oracle, Lotus Notes, Tivoli, Lawson, and Red Prairie. Our go to market strategy includes working with the respective software vendor user groups, including SAP's ASUG and Oracles user group, as well as attending the annual software vendor marketing events (like SAPPHIRE and Oracle World).
